Patanol eye drops contain an active drug called Olopatadine hydrochloride. The drug has been approved by the FDA for treating allergen-caused eye inflammation, also known as allergic conjunctivitis. This condition is characterized by red and itchy eyes. The eye drop functions as an antihistamine – it prevents histamine from working. The blocking of histamine stops the symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis, including itching, redness and burning. The drops can be prescribed for use by both children and adults.

Patanol eye drops are simple to use. Check that they are in date before use. This is important as expired eye drops can prove ineffective. You will find the expiration date on the packaging. The drug can be used by individuals who wear contact lenses. However, if you do wear contact lenses, these should be removed before using Patanol. Contact lenses can be put back in place between ten and fifteen minutes following application of the eye drops. Patanol eye drops should not be used at the same time as any other eye medications, unless you have been told otherwise by your Doctor. The reason for this is other types of drops may decrease the effectiveness of Patanol or the different types of drops may interact with each other. This eye medication should not be applied to eyes which are suffering from an infection.

To use Patanol, squeeze one or two drops of the solution into the affected eye or eyes. Your Doctor will inform you how often to use the drops. However, treatment is usually once or twice daily. For personalized dosage guidelines, ask your Doctor or Pharmacist or check your prescription label. Once the drops have been dispersed, close your eyes. While your eye is closed, place one finger atop of the inside corner of the eye and with this finger apply mild pressure for around two minutes. Try to refrain from blinking immediately following use of the drops. Continue to take the medication until your Doctor confirms that your eye has healed.

Patanol is associated with some side effects. These include headaches, swelling of the eyelids, sensations of a foreign body in the eye, blurred vision and burning of the eyes upon eye drop application. Any side effects should subside relatively quickly. If you experience any of the side effects listed and they fail to subside or they intensify, you should report them to the Doctor who prescribed your medication. If you experience blurred vision following use of these drops, it is advisable to refrain from driving and the operation of machinery. Refrain from use of the drops if you experience severe redness, crusting, draining or swelling of the eyes prior to their use.

Experience of severe allergic reactions is uncommon with the use of Patanol. However, symptoms of a severe reaction to the drug include difficulty breathing, dizziness and skin rash. Medical help should be sought immediately in the rare event that these symptoms are experienced.

You should inform your Doctor if you are planning to become pregnant while using these drops or if you are breast-feeding.

Many doctors treating a patient for an eye disorder prescribe pred forte eye drops, a steroid anti-inflammatory medicine referred to as an ophthalmic suspension. The drops are used to reduce redness and swelling of the eye due to an irritation or inflammation. However, it is not used for viral or fungal eye diseases. As with all medications, the directions must be followed exactly and there is the potential for immediate and long-term side effects.

Administration of the drops begins with clean hands and shaking the bottle. While not touching the end of the dropper to your eye, rest the bottle against your nose or forehead. Lean your head back, lightly pull down the lower eyelid, and drop the medicine into the eye. Close the eye for a couple minutes and place the dropper into the bottle without washing it. Occasionally two different medicines are prescribed for an eye ailment. In that case, wait at least five minutes before using the additional drops or ointment. The prescription is usually for two or four applications a day and a patient should not discontinue the use until a doctor tells the patient to do so. If a dose is not taken on time, take it unless it is near to the time of the next dose. In that case, do not take the missed dose. When told to discontinue the drops, the patient must comply to prevent side effects or damage to the eye.

The drops are to be used by only the person for whom it was prescribed, should be stored upright at room temperature away from sun, and placed where children do not have access to it. If you are prescribed pred forte in the future, ask your doctor if you can use drops remaining from the previous illness.

Immediate side effects include a brief burning or stinging when first applied to the eye, vision that is blurred, and in some cases an allergic reaction. Occasionally a secondary infection, glaucoma, a cataract, or slow healing of the wound may occur. Since one of the ingredients is a type of sulfite, an allergic reaction or a severe or mild asthmatic response may occur in some patients. Patients who are allergic to or currently using prednisone or steroids should discuss its use with the doctor prior to beginning pred forte. Patients who are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding should also talk to the doctor prior to beginning the medicine. If use is needed for more than 10 days, the eye’s pressure should be checked frequently. If the drug is used after cataract surgery, it may slow the healing process.

While usually prescribed for a short period of time, the medicine may cause other side effects if used longer than 10 days. Since it is a steroid, long-term use may cause the face to take on a moon shape, a heavier trunk, and purple marks on the skin—all of which disappear when the medicine is stopped. In a few cases, the patient may be slowly weaned from the drug.

Pred forte eye drops are an effective medicine when administered according to directions for a short period of time.

There are some facts to consider before taking Vigamox eye drops, or its generic Moxifloxacin hydrochloride opthalmic solution. Vigamox is a synthetic, broad-spectrum antibiotic in an opthalmic form and can only be taken with a prescription from a doctor. It comes from a family of wide-spectrum antibiotics called quinolones or flouroquinolones. In its opthalmic form, this antibiotic prevents bacteria from duplicating itself and multiplying, by depleting the bacteria of the vital proteins that it needs to survive. It is commonly used to treat the bacterial forms of conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers, and should never be used to treat viral or fungal infections of the eye.

If you have ever had an allergic reaction to any other broad-spectrum antibiotics, oral or opthalmic, you should consult with your doctor prior to starting Vigamox. This will help him or her determine whether or not Vigamox is right for you, and help to prevent any complications. Here is a list of medications both brand name and generic that fall under the flouroquinolone family. If you have ever had a reaction to any of these medications you should discuss it with your physician:

Zymar (gatifloxacin opthalmic)
Tequin (gatifloxacin)
Ciloxan (ciprofloxacin opthalmic)
Cipro (ciprofloxacin)
Ocuflux (ofloxacin opthalmic)
Floxacin (ofloxacin)
Chibroxin (norfloxacin opthalmic)
Noroxin (norfloxacin)
Quixin (levofloxacin opthalmic)
Levaquin (levofloxacin)
Maxaquin (lovafloxacin)
Zagam (sparfloxacin)
Trovan (trovafloxacin)
Avelox (moxifloxacin)

Quinolones are contraindicated for use by children, and especially infants, due to the increased risk of muskuloskeletal damage they can cause. These antibiotics are used only as a last resort for children, and only after other safer options have been tried and failed. Oral quinolones are also contraindicated for pregnant and nursing mothers, and fall under a pregnancy category D. These oral contraindications are mentioned here because you should be informed. It is not known if Vigamox can pass through the uterine walls during pregnancy or whether it can pass through into the breast milk when nursing. This places Vigamox into a pregnancy category C. Always consult your physician prior to taking these antibiotics in oral or opthalmic forms, especially if you are pregnant or nursing.

If after consulting with your doctor, and Vigamox drops are prescribed, be sure to administer the eye drops properly. You should always wash your hand thoroughly before touching your eyes, and even more so when administering any opthalmic solutions, especially antibiotics. The dropper is sterile and care should be taken to keep it sterile. The dropper should never touch and other surfaces, including the eye, lid, lashes, fingers or even the cap. Once it touches these surfaces it is not longer sterile and can cause secondary infection. Look up towards the ceiling and hold the lower lids down and away from the eye. Apply as directed and apply gentle pressure at the inner eye for about 30-60 seconds. This will keep the medication from going into your tear duct, and possibly entering your blood stream, which can cause you to develop possible side effects. Repeat for the other eye if directed by your doctor. Carefully place cap back on dropper, and wash any excess medication off of your hands and dropper. Remember to take your drops as ordered, and always take them for the time specified by your doctor, even if you start to feel better.

Side effects are another concern that should be discussed with your physician, and although they are not common they do occur. A side effect is an adverse response to medication taken as prescribed. Side effects can be range from mild to severe, and can be temporary or permanent. These may include irritation, burning, and stinging in the eye. Other more severe reactions could be joint pains, light sensitivity, corneal spots, and corneal swelling, and should be reported to your doctor immediately. You should seek immediate medical assistance if you develop nausea, vomiting, swelling of the throat, swelling of the face, abdominal cramping, or difficulty breathing. These are all things you should consider and discuss with your doctor prior to taking Vigamox.

Do not wear contacts while using this product unless your doctor directs you do do so. Make sure you consult him before any use.

Contact lenses can absorb the preservatives of these eye drops so it is recommended that you remove the lenses before use if approved by your doctor. You can wear the contacts after 15-20 minutes after being applied.
So that the solution does not become contaminated make sure you do not touch the top of the dripper top and do not put the dripper to any part of your skin.

Glaucoma is a disease of the eye caused by excessively high pressure within the eye. Lowering the pressure in the eye will forestall blindness Trusopt eye drops, manufactured by Merck, are used as a remedy to lower the pressure in the affected eye. Dorzolamide is the generic name for the drug. The drug belongs to a class of drugs called carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. The prescribed dose is 1 drop in the affected eye 3 times a day. This drug needs to be used continuously. A glaucoma test should be given periodically by your physician because it is not a condition that warns you, you will not feel pain in the eye on account of glaucoma. Be careful when buying this medication online, many medicines online are Chinese counterfeits. Have faith in the company before making your purchase.

As with most drugs there are possible side effects. Some of these are blurred vision, eye discomfort, tearing, a dry feeling when first applied and a bitter taste in the mouth. Headaches, fatigue, sensitivity to light and nausea have also been reported. If the side effects are too severe your physician might write a prescription for different eye drops. All of you have seen the advertisements on television for drugs. Their side effects at times seem almost as bad as the original condition they are attempting to alleviate.

You can’t reverse cataracts overnight but you can use the Nac eye drops to help restore the glutathione levels and protect against blinding induced cataracts. The Nac eye drops can reverse the formation of cataracts and even slow down the progress it can help delay the need for cataract surgery. The drops must be taken for at least 6 months before you see results always remember things take time to work.

Cataracts are one of the leading causes of blindness and can seriously affect your eyesight. This condition happens to many people as they get older and if it is not treated can and often does lead to blindness of some degree. There are many symptoms of cataracts including blurry or cloudy vision, driving problems in the dark, sun glare, double vision. Having to change your prescription for eyeglasses is also an indication that you may have cataracts.

There are many causes of cataracts like smoking, diabetes and simply getting older to name a few. Also arthritis, exposure to the sun and even some blood pressure medications can lead to the onset of cataracts. The sooner this problem is diagnosed by a doctor and treatment is started the better the chances of correcting the problem.

In years past the only solution for correcting this problem has been surgery. This involves having the cloudy lens removed and a clear implant put in its place. This will often return the eye to its original clear state.

It has been shown by new research that there now may be an alternative treatment to surgery when dealing with cataracts. This new method comes in the form of an eye drops for cataracts containing N-acetyl-carnosine or NAC. This has been shown to perform like an antioxidant and dissolves the cataract naturally without the effects of surgery.

It has been shown that these drops help not only people but animals as well and are said to be 100% hypoallergenic. Used properly it is reported that they may reduce or clear cataracts without the risks and cost of surgery.

These drops can reportedly be used by anyone and no prescription is needed since all natural ingredients are used.

When it comes to general health many people neglect their eyes in view of so many other problems of aging. Isn’t it great that there may now be an inexpensive and uncomplicated solution to such a bothersome problem as cataracts?
